Voice

Mobile
SIGFX has designed a wireless handset that is simple to use but complex in terms of ensuring that the customers calls goes through.  The SIGFX wireless handset can place and receive a call by way of a television station’s empty spectrum or by way of a traditional cellular or PCS wireless network.  The handset has the ability to simultaneously support a voice and data calls on separate frequencies.
Fixed Wireless

Millions of people around the world still lack even the most basic of communications services; a telephone.  By using television transmitters, SIGFX will be able to offer an affordable alternative to wired home phones.  This fixed wireless solution can also be used to place pay phones in remote communities that currently lack any type of communication services.

Thin Route - Low Bandwidth Data Applications

The SIGFX wireless network can support various low bandwidth, or thin route, data applications.  Examples include one-way and two-way text paging and the ability to send and receive emails through a PDA.  The network can also interface with stationary or mobile sensors that can be used to track and/or monitor important assets.  There are an ever-growing number of applications for this kind of service, including:
Asset tracking.  Companies currently use cellular (limited coverage) or satellite (cost prohibitive) systems to track their merchandise, vehicles and property as they crisscross the country.  The SIGFX network uses television transmitters that cover most of the continental US landmass.  We will provide an affordable alternative to other tracking communication systems.

    Event Monitoring.

  • Hydrologic Sensors. Environmental and insurance concerns often require the installation of water-detecting sensors. In order to minimize physical and monetary damage as well as comply with regulatory requirements, these sensors are now required to wirelessly send an alert to monitoring and/or response personnel. These facilities often exist in developing or newly developed areas that lack traditional wired or wireless infrastructure. Since the SIGFX network has a much larger coverage footprint, it is more probable that these areas will be covered.

  • Home security.  Current home security systems rely on wired phone lines to notify police of an intrusion.  Unfortunately, many criminals have discovered this fact and simply cut the wired phone line before entering a home.  A wireless interface cannot be cut and therefore would improve the security system in a person’s home.

  • National security network. The Federal government plans to install numerous sensors around the country capable of detecting chemical, biological, or radioactive agents. As the installation of these sensors increase, there will be many locations where a wired phone line or other type of wireless link (used to generate an alert) is either unavailable or cost prohibitive. Another specific national security application involves the country’s water supply. The Environmental Protection Agency has been developing a water-monitoring sensor that will be used to help protect the nation’s drinking water. The SIGFX network covers most of the continental United States and can be used as a wireless link to monitor any of these sensors.

  • Pipeline monitoring.  Oil and natural gas companies use various methods to monitor the flow of assets through their pipelines.  The superior footprint provided by television transmissions means that the SIGFX network is ideally suited to monitor these pipelines, even in remote areas of the country.

  • Environmental control.  There are an unlimited number of items that require the constant monitoring and maintenance of environmental conditions.  Companies can install sensors capable of using the extended coverage provided SIGFX network to notify supervisors, localities and engineers of a problem before assets, facilities or natural resources are destroyed.

  • Home Health Care Monitoring. A growing percentage of the population require daily monitoring of vital signs; such as heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature levels. A number of companies now manufacture equipment that can be located in a person's home to measure these vital signs. The SIGFX network could be used to send this information to the individuals physician or healthcare provider. By monitoring an elderly or ill person's vital signs at home, healthcare providers will have the ability to prevent life-threatening illnesses instead of reacting to them.

High Bandwidth

Devices that operate on the SIGFX wireless network have the ability to support broadband data transmission.  This is achieved by eliminating the television broadcast and dedicating the entire channel to a data transmission.  Like the fixed wireless voice application, SIGFX devices could provide an affordable alternative to wired Internet connections.

The cost associated with constructing a dedicated television transmitter for data services are considerably less than the costs of wiring an entire community using conventional methods.  In certain countries it may be significantly more cost effective than all other options to install a dedicated television transmitter to deliver Internet connectivity to a community.
